European leaders discuss continent's debt crisis

(AP) ? British Prime Minister David Cameron's office says European leaders have held a video conference on the continent's worsening debt crisis.

Cameron's office said Friday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, Spain's leader Mariano Rajoy, European Council Presiden Herman van Rompuy and European Commission president Jose Manuel held talks ahead of the Group of 20 meeting in Mexico next week.

The leaders agreed that the European nations would press the case for global coordination to help secure "strong, sustainable and balanced growth" and financial market reform, Cameron's office said in a statement.

They also discussed the need for "the necessary action to secure global economic stability and to support growth".

European leaders will also meet for talks in Brussels on June 28-29.
