SEATTLE, Wash. ? Emily Painter, a newcomer to the George Fox University track and field program, posted the second-best indoor time in Bruin history in the women?s 3,000 meter run with a 10:18.11, highlighting efforts by a small sampling of Bruins in the University of Washington Open indoor meet Sunday here at the Dempsey Indoor Arena.
Painter, a sophomore transfer from Concordia University-Portland?s powerful NAIA program, was 16th in her section of the 3,000.? Her mark is second in school history only to All-American Jill Beals? school record of 10:02.64 in 1991.
The only other Bruin woman to compete Sunday was Courtney Hochstetler, who was 15th in her section of the 3,000 with an 11:15.10.
Three George Fox men took part in the day?s events.? Kody Tarbell posted a personal best when he came in 18th in his section of the 3,000 meter run with a 9:13.61.? Matt Wood was first in his group in the 400 meter dash with a 52.52, and Kyle Dreibelbis was 12th in his section in the mile run with a 4:33.56, but neither were personal records.

NEXT: The George Fox teams will be off for three weeks before returning to indoor action in the University of Washington Indoor Final Qualifier on Friday, March 1.? The outdoor season will also commence that weekend for the Bruins as they compete in Linfield College?s Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker on Friday-Saturday, March 1-2.
